Food has a unique way of transcending time and creating memories and traditions that connect generations. To celebrate this, the launch of the RootsTech Global Family Recipes Cookbook is coming soon!
This cookbook will be designed to remember, share, and enjoy family recipes from around the world. We need YOUR help in collecting everyone’s family recipes for our shared cookbook! More than just a collection of recipes, the RootsTech cookbook will be a journey for readers to travel throughout time and culture, to embrace these special foods that have shaped some of our best memories and stories around the kitchen table for centuries.

Collaborating with A Bountiful Kitchen and Relive Designs
RootsTech is thrilled to be working with Si Foster, cookbook author and creator of A Bountiful Kitchen, in the creation of the new RootsTech cookbook! Giving her thoughts on the collaboration, Foster says, “our unique stories have the power to knit our hearts and generations together. I’m so excited about working with the RootsTech team on this global cookbook and look forward to reading the stories behind each recipe compiled in this special collection!”
In addition, sisters Mary and Marquis from Relive Designs will also be involved. These sisters know firsthand that family recipes are a great way to do family history, with their mission to preserve handwriting by etching it in family mementoes, like kitchen tools. “It is scientifically proven that we make strong memories and connections with experiences tied to emotion and smell," say the sisters. "Food is obviously associated with both. There are many family traditions centered around food which by default create memories—whether that is Sunday dinner, Christmas breakfast, or Grandma’s famous pie. It’s so important for families to protect these traditions and recipes. Write them down! Save them! Share them! Make copies! Preserve and protect your family’s memories!”
As part of this cookbook collaboration, we will be giving away 100 wooden spoons from Relive Designs, with a special engraving on them. They will go to the first 100 people who submit a recipe, story, and photo to be included in the cookbook! Relive Designs will also be giving away a select number of charcuterie boards with custom family recipes engraved on them before the cookbook launches. The winners of these boards will be randomly selected from the list of all those who have made a full submission.
How to Participate
Don’t keep your great grandpa’s gumbo recipe to yourself! To participate in the RootsTech Global Family Recipes Cookbook:
- Think about a special family recipe you have and the memories and stories related to it.
- Go to the cookbook form, and submit:
- Your contact information
- The recipe
- A picture of the food, the person it’s known for, or you making it
- The story behind the recipe
It’s as easy as that!
To make this cookbook as amazing as it can be, it is up to you! With contributions from home kitchens spanning countries and continents, the RootsTech Global Family Recipes Cookbook will be a melting pot of flavors, traditions, and stories. Join the cause, and submit a recipe today!
