RootsTech is the biggest genealogy event in the world. That's right, the biggest in the whole world! Once a year, the greatest minds in the industry come together to teach classes on a variety of different topics and showcase new technological innovations. Virtual and in-person attendees also get to enjoy inspiring addresses by keynote speakers from around the globe.
You can participate in RootsTech from wherever you are. The paid in-person conference (available primarily in English) will be held at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, March 6–8, 2025. You can also virtually watch the conference online for free.

Where is RootsTech?
RootsTech took place in person in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, from 2011 to 2020 and in London, England, in 2019. When the COVID pandemic struck, the FamilySearch team wanted to keep the event alive in spite of the unique situation facing the world, so they went global and entirely virtual for the 2021 and 2022 conferences. This change enabled the RootsTech event to be shared with millions around the world, enhanced by added languages, new speakers, and global connections.
The ever-evolving event took a step further in 2023 as RootsTech held its first hybrid event in both Salt Lake City as well as online for those around the world. So, you ask, "Where is RootsTech?" RootsTech can be accessed in most places globally!
The RootsTech site supports 18+ main languages, with on-demand classes to watch in even more languages. In addition to the classes from past years of RootsTech, the 2025 conference will add new offerings in languages such as English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. When you're logged in during RootsTech, you can find one-on-one help in various languages, find sessions to meet your needs, get answers to genealogical questions, and more.
To see what classes are available in your language, use the language filter when searching in the RootsTech on-demand library. Keep an eye out for the schedule of new classes for the 2025 conference that will be posted around January, 2025.

Global emcees
Last year, RootsTech had a new surprise to make the conference more accessible to all people: Onsite emcees who live-streamed throughout the 3-day event in various languages. This year, we're excited to use global emcees again, with emcees speaking English, Arabic, Cantonese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, and Spanish.
With these emcees, the RootsTech in-person event blends even more with the online experience, allowing more people around the world to enjoy the latest genealogy news and learning.

How many people attend RootsTech?
The amazing thing about a hybrid event—it has opened the floodgates to genealogy enthusiasts everywhere to participate. How many people attended RootsTech 2024? Last year's event brought 4.7 million+ attendants, 1.8 million YouTube live steam attendants, 400+ classes offered, 250 topics of learning shared, 232 countries and territories represented, 193 exhibitors participated, and content in 42 languages offered.
