RootsTech Is Coming!

Rootstech Main Stage
Rootstech Main Stage

RootsTech 2016, happening February 3–6, 2016, is the largest family history conference in the world. People will gather to “Celebrate Families across Generations.” A new feature that has been added to RootsTech 2016 is an LDS track of classes available to anyone, regardless of calling or experience level.

In February, 2015, Elder Neil L. Andersen urged all members of the Church to “prepare as many names for the temple as baptisms you perform in the temple, and help someone else to do the same.” This new LDS track will help you accomplish this challenge.

The new LDS track will help members accomplish family history goals, which may include:

  • FIND their ancestors.
  • Prepare names and TAKE them to the temple.
  • TEACH others to do the same.

Family Discovery Day

In addition to RootsTech, families and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are invited to attend Family Discovery Day on Saturday, February 6, 2016. This free one-day event is a day of inspirational messages, instructional classes, interactive activities, and exciting entertainment to help Church members (ages 8 and up) discover and connect with their families across generations.

Family History Center Directors

Two sessions will be offered for family history center directors, taught by FamilySearch managers Scott Stout and Suzanne Curley. You and anyone in your branch, ward, or stake who has a family history calling can register for a three-day pass with the discount code CALLING99. Please do not share this code in ward bulletins or other publications. Volunteers who work at the family history center but who do not have a family history calling can also register with the discount code CALLING99. A variety of registration options are available at rootstech.org. Remember to add tickets for Family Discovery Day to your registration. Family Discovery Day is free, but it sold out early at RootsTech 2015. Make your plans now if you want to attend this inspiring day.

Live-stream and recorded sessions will be available if time and distance do not allow you to attend RootsTech. RootsTech sessions recorded in previous years for family history center directors are posted online at lds.org/fhcdirector.
