YouTube is a great resource for genealogists! Our next featured RootsTech presenter and TechTips author, Devin Ashby, will explore this further.
YouTube Your Family History
This session will be held Thursday, Feb 2 from 1:45 - 2:45 pm MST. It is targeted towards technology users.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth a thousand pictures. Creating an online video of your family history is simple and can be an exciting project for the entire family. YouTube is the largest worldwide video community and every minute 48 hours of video are uploaded on this site. In this session attendees will become familiar with YouTube and how to publish video content online for free. A video of an ancestor will be shown and the details of creating the video as part of a family project will be shared. Live demonstrations will include the following tools: Picasa, Windows Movie Maker, Audacity, Cam Studio, Google, etc. This session will also include an explanation of how to turn old memories into images, text, audio and video files. For more information about this topic, see Devin's syllabus.
