Using WikiTree to collaborate with your non-genealogist family members
This class will be held Thursday, Feb 2 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm MST. This class is geared towards a beginning level technology user.
So what will this class cover? WikiTree users fall into two groups: 1.) genealogists and, 2.) their family members. The completely-free, privacy-controlled, user-friendly interface makes it attractive to those who don't usually participate in family history. You will learn ideas for getting your family members uploading photos, adding personal memories, and filling in the blanks.
WikiTree.com is a collaborative family tree project. The community isn’t bifurcated into free members and premium members. It’s entirely free for everyone. But it’s useful to make a distinction between the genealogists who lead the community and their non-genealogist family members. By making this distinction we can talk about the ways WikiTree can be used to engage entire families so that everyone can enjoy it and add their own memories, photos, and facts.
We’ll talk about some creative ways to encourage this sharing, and also how this private family sharing connects to WikiTree’s broader mission of making genealogy free and accessible.

Chris Whitten is the creator of WikiTree.com: a free, privacy-controlled, single family tree project.
