Our next featured presenter is Capers McDonald, who will be discussing a pedigree numbering system.
Ancestral Lines Pairing System: Uniquely Numbering Each Ancestral Line, Generation, Pairing and Sibling
This session will be held Friday, Feb 3 from 1:45-2:45 pm MST. This is also a session targeted towards software developers.
A newly published pedigree numbering system – Ancestral Lines – has been developed to visibly display family lines and generations of all direct ancestors in multiple presentation formats, addressing important needs in selecting a numbering system. Mathematically based and readily computerized, the format is easy to read and understand, with unique indicators recording relationships briefly with key information – setting each direct Line as a continuous ancestral lineage, then visibly numbering successive Generations. Line numbers are added at half the rate individuals are added using Ahnentafel numbering, and smaller numbers continue into deeper ancestries. Not merely “index” numbers, they clearly convey genealogical information. For more in depth information on this topic, see Capers' syllabus.
