New Family History Pass-Along Card
A new family history pass-along card is now available to introduce potential new users to FamilySearch.org. The pass-along card was developed by the Family History Department and is currently being used by missionaries who serve throughout the world. Missionaries and members are encouraged to use the card to introduce people who are not of the LDS faith to the concept of family history and to show them where they can go to learn more.
The front of the card invites the reader to begin the journey of discovering his or her family. It explains that FamilySearch.org is a nonprofit organization sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The back of the card details what the person will find on the FamilySearch.org website and where he or she can go to find help to get started doing family history. There is also room to stamp the address of your local Family History Center.
Family history centers will find this a useful tool to hand out to people who come into their centers for the first time. Centers can also use them as a handout during open houses and to invite the public to come in to see what their center has to offer.
Family history consultants will also find this pass-along card useful. When they go into the homes of ward members to teach them how to begin using FamilySearch, they can leave one of these pass-along cards with the family to remind them of what they learned about FamilySearch.org. Consultants can also use them to encourage ward members and nonmember friends to begin searching for their ancestors.
Cards can be ordered from the Church’s Online Store. They come in packets of 100 cards and can be purchased for $5.80 (U.S. funds) per packet. Cards will be delivered right to your door.
