FamilySearch digitized 1518 books in August. The books are now available for free online at Family History Books. British Isles books include Yorkshire and Dublin parish registers, Surnames of Scotland: Their Origin, Meaning, and History, and Irish Names and Surnames. International books include abstracts of Denmark probate records (nine counties), a gazetteer of places in Switzerland, and A Concise Dictionary of Old Icelandic.
Many books covering places in the United States and Canada were also uploaded. The list of compiled family histories, arranged alphabetically by surname, is 84 pages in length. Titles include the 6-volume Encyclopedia of the History of Missouri, an assortment of Massachusetts and New Hampshire vital records and local histories, Connecticut probate records, three volumes from the Colonial Records of the State of Georgia series, the 5-volume Adjutant General's Report ... of Illinois Volunteers Who Served in the Spanish-American War, 1898 and 1899, more Indiana local history indexes, the General Index [to] the Register of the Kentucky State Historical Society ... Vol. 1 to Vol. 20, 5 volumes of New England Families, Genealogical and Memorial, and many Ohio and Pennsylvania local histories.
