FamilySearch is always expanding its archive of free, digitized historical records so people can have more opportunities to discover their ancestors. In the past, we have endeavored to post a weekly update on the blog detailing new records that are available. Compiling these reports takes a significant amount of time, and to deliver the most accurate reports possible, we have been unable to post them consistently each week.
We know many readers look forward to these record updates, and we want to continue to deliver them regularly. In an effort to report more consistently, we will begin publishing these updates monthly rather than weekly.
Blog readers can expect to see the first monthly update for new historical records in the first week of December 2024 on the FamilySearch blog. We will then strive to publish these reports every month. To avoid any duplicate reporting, we will not have any weekly record updates in November 2024.
Note: The new report will cover records published since the last report. The month in the report title indicates what month the report was published, not the month the records were published. For example, the July 2024 monthly record update on the blog and in the newsroom would report on records published on FamilySearch.org since the last report was given, regardless of when the records were published.
We look forward to bringing you more accurate reports of our new historical records more regularly. If you have questions about this change, please let us know in the comments below.
