Meet the Mormons in Theaters This Friday!

Meet the Mormons

A new feature-length film, Meet the Mormons, will debut in theaters across the nation this Friday, October 10. This ground-breaking movie was produced by the Church and commissioned by the First Presidency. It was filmed on location across the globe and highlights the lives of six diverse Church members who share their inspiring stories of faith.

Audiences who have viewed the prerelease version of this film gave it rave reviews. Some of these viewers who were not members of the Church were asked what they learned from watching the movie. Some common responses were:

  • Members of the Church are Christians.
  • We are not “Mormons” but members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • They felt a deeper sense of respect for our beliefs and what we stand for.

In a prerelease interview, Elder Jeffery R. Holland stated that he wants members of the Church to understand that Meet the Mormons is a full length movie. It will play in local theaters across the country, just like other full-length commercial movies. There will be no proselyting in this movie. No missionaries will be in or outside the theater.

Elder Holland explained that none of the money that comes from ticket sales will go to the Church. All money will be given to local charities, the biggest recipient being the Red Cross.

Elder Holland said that the success of this film depends, in large part, on attendance figures during the first weekend the movie is shown. He suggests there are three things that members of the Church can do to make this film a success.

  • Request it. If the movie is not showing in your area, you can request it. Go to MeetTheMormons.com, and follow the steps they provide on this site.
  • Share it. Share information about it with friends and family. Use your social media connections, and share information about this movie. Include links to the site where they can learn more. On Facebook, Like the movie.
  • Experience it. Go see it on October 10 when it premiers. Please understand that no one should feel like they “have to go” or feel pressured. Members should always be considerate of the financial constraints of others.

If you want to see a great movie that both entertains and inspires you, take your spouse or go with your friends and see Meet the Mormons. You will be glad you did. Visit MeetTheMormons.com for show times or to request the film in your area.
