RootsTech 2025 will be full of new and exciting experiences! We know there is a lot to plan and prepare for the upcoming conference. To help you prepare, we have compiled some essential information about RootsTech 2025 and your time in Salt Lake City.
Best Hotel Stays at RootsTech 2025?
Salt Lake City, the capital of Utah, is the core of the state. The Salt Palace Convention Center is located right in Salt Lake City, and many great hotel options are available near the convention center.
Transportation Available
There are many options for transportation throughout Salt Lake City. You can rent a car or use public transportation. The public transportation system in Salt Lake City uses commuter trains, buses, and a light rail system to provide quality experiences for travel around Utah.

Again in 2025, the Utah Transit Authority is offering free seats for RootsTech attendees wearing their badge. Visit the Utah Transit Authority website to learn more about how to navigate through the city and plan your route.
Mobility Assistance
We are thrilled to be back in person at the Salt Palace Convention Center for our 2025 conference! For those of you who have attended a classic RootsTech in the past, you know that the Salt Palace is a big space, with many classrooms, hallways, and the Expo Hall.
If you need of mobility assistance for the long walks and distances between classes, we encourage you to rent a scooter or wheelchair for the duration of the conference. You can find rental options on the Salt Palace web page.
Places to Eat Around Salt Lake City?
If you’re a foodie, you’re in luck! Salt Lake City has a wide array of restaurants to try out. RootsTech even has breaks midday to allow time for lunch. With 90 minutes for lunch each day of the conference, you will have plenty of time to try some of Salt Lake's finest and still make it to your next class.
If you are looking for a quick bite to eat, about a half mile from the Salt Palace is the City Creek food court. A nice walk through downtown gives you a variety of quick options to eat.
If you are looking for more upscale dinner options, Visit Salt Lake's restaurant pages is a great place to explore your many options.
We will also have food available for purchase on-site at the Salt Palace. Vendors include many locally-owned restaurants as well.
What Else Is There to Do Around Salt Lake City?

One of the most popular attractions for our attendees is the FamilySearch Library, the largest genealogical library in the world. During RootsTech, the library will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
You should have plenty of time to check out the Discovery Center on the main floor and get in a little extra research while you are there! RootsTech will provide attendees with free rides from the Salt Palace to the FamilySearch Library throughout the 3-day conference.

Weather in Salt Lake City
Weather in Salt Lake City during RootsTech can sometimes be a bit unpredictable. It can be sunny with temperatures in the 50s or cold and snowy. Pack layers so you can be comfortable during your stay, and do not forget a jacket and hat in case of inclement weather. RootsTech employees also recommend having a jacket inside the convention center.
