Each day we at FamilySearch receive dozens of blog comments asking for help finding an ancestor or a specific kind of record. Although we do not do private research for people, we do direct people to some excellent help sources they can use to find what they are looking for. Where do you find this help? It’s right here in FamilySearch.
To find what help resources are available to you, follow the steps below.
1. Go to the FamilySearch home page.
2. Click the Help link located at the top of the web page.
3. Look along the right side of the page and you will see a menu with 6 links. Three of these links will be the most helpful to you.
Local Assistance: This link will help you get in contact with a local family history center near you. At these family history centers you can get personal one on one help to learn how you can find the answer to most of your family history research questions.
Community Assistance: This link will connect you to family history forums worldwide. Forums are where you can go to get answers about research techniques, finding specific families in specific locations, answers to product questions, etc. This choice enables you to work with others on the internet who have experience doing research.
Contact FamilySearch: This link provide you with telephone numbers to call to get a live person who you can talk to, one on one. Or, if you prefer, you can also chat on line with someone from support services. You can also email your questions to the people at FamilySearch Support. They will respond as quickly as they can.
The Help link is your gateway to finding the help you need to teach you how to find the answers to your family history questions.
