Finding your female ancestors is hard. There is just no other way to say it. For years many places observed English common law, which meant that women were covered under the legal rights of their husband, consequently, women were often left off of records. For that and a myriad of other reasons, women are often elusive in genealogy research.
In response to this issue, Julie Stoddard presented on this topic in 2020. Stoddard discusses the reasons women are hard to find, how to research, and where to look. She walks viewers through how to search for missing women in vital records, censuses, family trees, cemetery records, probate records, social security, and DNA testing.
