FamilySearch is pleased to announce that the newly renovated and expanded FamilySearch center in Las Vegas, Nevada, at 509 S. Ninth Street, is now open!
The Las Vegas FamilySearch Center open house will be held Saturday, October 14, from 10 AM to 6 PM and Sunday, October 15, from 10 AM to 4 PM. Interactive tours will be held so you can discover the free services and equipment we offer to the public.
The FamilySearch center’s home is a 1932 revival-style Tudor chapel that has been completely renovated. The center offers engaging free services that help visitors make fun personal and family discoveries, and they can digitally preserve and share their family memories.
The free Las Vegas FamilySearch Center is a great attraction if you:

Las Vegas FamilySearch Center Activities and Resources
Visitors are sure to have quick successes at the new Las Vegas FamilySearch Center as they capitalize on FamilySearch’s vast historical resources and free access to premium online genealogy services.
Digitization Resources and Computers
The center offers 47 patron computers for doing your family history research on, including a computer learning lab that can support large groups.


There is also a space with self-serve digitization equipment that will help you preserve heirlooms in a digital format and easily share them online. The center supports digitization of family memories on old photos, slides, negatives, 8mm film, VHS videos, book scanning, and reel-to-reels.


All the digitization equipment can be reserved on the Las Vegas FamilySearch Center’s website. It is recommended that you bring a portable memory drive (thumb, flash, or remote hard drive) to store your new digital files on.
No need to worry if you are technologically challenged—the center’s staff of local volunteers is ready to make your visit a success!
Family History Discovery Experiences
Individuals, families, youth, and special interest groups will enjoy discovering their family history and stories together using 10 interactive discovery stations loaded with fun experiences.
These discovery stations include activities such as All About Me, Compare-a-Face, Picture My Heritage, My Famous Relatives, and Where I Come From.
There is also a recording room, Record My Story, where you can digitally capture personal and family memories on video for posterity’s sake.

The center welcomes walk-in visits, but for the best personalized experiences, plan ahead. Create a free FamilySearch.org account, and add what you know about your family in the FamilySearch Family Tree, or come with a little extra time and the basics of what you know about your ancestors, and staff will help you get started!
Once you're ready, make your way to the Las Vegas FamilySearch Center for help with researching, digitizing, and discovering! Remember that the center is completely free to use its resources! There’s also a play area for small children that is designed so parents can explore their family history without leaving their children unattended.
