As a nonprofit company seeking to help people everywhere connect with their families, FamilySearch strives to have a family-friendly and inspiring workplace. This is why we are pleased that FamilySearch has once again been honored with the prestigious Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award (GEWA) for the fifth year in a row.
Gallup is a global analytics and advice firm that helps organizations like FamilySearch create transformation and strive for excellence in the workplace. The GEWA achievement is awarded to companies who "put the engagement of their people at the center of their business strategy," by listening to them, measuring results, and making decisions to better the workplace. The 2023 GEWA award of excellence places FamilySearch among the top 1.4% of companies in Gallup's extensive database.
According to Meridyth Moose, of Gallup, "The winners of the Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award weave employee engagement throughout each stage of the employee life cycle, embedding it in their very culture. It's our privilege to honor organizations that meet the rigorous requirements to achieve the title of Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award winner—an award created nearly 2 decades ago to celebrate clients that challenge the status quo and raise the bar for what a workplace can be."
A Comprehensive Approach to Achieving a Better Workplace
Winning the Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award is no small feat. The rigorous selection process involves a review of FamilySearch's strategy, leadership, performance, accountability, communication, knowledge management, development, and ongoing learning, showing just how comprehensive an approach is needed to create an exceptional workplace. Employee voices are heard through an extensive survey process. The survey is managed through Gallup who, as a third party, is able to gather honest answers through anonymity.

"It's an incredible honor to be recognized with the Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award for the fifth consecutive year," said Hayden Prigmore of FamilySearch, who oversaw the Gallup application process. "We pride ourselves on being a place of work where individuals feel valued, recognized, and part of a team that truly supports and encourages each other to grow and improve each day."
Helping Employees Feel Empowered and Supported
FamilySearch's dedication to its employees is shown in every part of the employee experience. From attracting potential talent by being open about its wholesome culture and values, to providing training pathways for professional development and ongoing learning, FamilySearch excels at creating an environment where employees can thrive.

Prioritizing employee engagement is a big part of creating a healthy workplace culture. FamilySearch fosters an environment where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered to do their work each day by uniting under a common purpose, focusing on recognition of excellent work, and building a robust training program for managers.
Our Common Purpose Transforms the Culture
"We are united under a common purpose that the majority of the employees have embraced," said Hayden. "Our quality of work has exceeded expectations, and we attribute that to the positive and engaging workplace culture that FamilySearch fosters."

Management That Genuinely Cares
FamilySearch's management team plays a crucial role in creating an exceptional workplace. They genuinely care about their employees and take deliberate steps to meet their needs, from offering flexible work arrangements to providing wellness programs and recognition initiatives.

Managers here strive to connect with each employee, finding the best fit for their talents, encouraging growth, checking if they have the tools needed for success, and striving to help them feel heard. This commitment to employee well-being has resulted in a highly motivated, committed, and high-performing workforce.
Regular and Heart-felt Recognition Makes a Difference
FamilySearch consistently recognizes its employees' outstanding work, fostering a culture of appreciation and motivation. This culture has spread throughout the workforce, so that recognition often comes from many sources: the organization as a whole, management, and fellow employees.
"These are world-class organizations that truly make a difference for their employees every day," said Meridyth from Gallup. Creating an environment where employees feel valued and recognized can really make a difference in individual employees' lives.

With its fifth consecutive win of the Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award, FamilySearch has established itself as a world-class organization that truly makes a difference for its employees. Here’s to 5 more years of continued success!
