Keynote speakers at RootsTech 2017

 

Every year the RootsTech conference features fascinating and knowledgeable keynote speakers, and this year is no different. What will make this year better than ever is that, for the first time ever, keynote speakers from all RootsTech sessions, including Wednesday’s Innovator Summit, will be streamed live online at rootstech.org.

Take a look at the full keynote speaker lineup, and plan to participate from wherever you are.

Steve Rockwood, CEO of FamilySearch International

Rockwood currently serves as president and CEO of FamilySearch International. Over the past two years, he has made it his mission to emphasize the personal side of family history work, inspiring people to focus on the stories of ancestors and encouraging the use of technology to make records, photos, and memories more accessible.

You can watch Steve Rockwood’s remarks on Wednesday, February 8, from 9 to 10 a.m. MST and Thursday, February 9, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. MST.

Liz Wiseman, author and business leader

Wiseman, a best-selling author, teaches leadership strategies to executives and emerging leaders around the world. She is a frequent lecturer at BYU, the Naval Postgraduate School, and Stanford University.

The Scott Brothers

Drew and Jonathan Scott, more commonly known as the Property Brothers from the popular HGTV show, have built an impressive entertainment empire by working together in film, entertainment, and home renovation. At RootsTech, they’ll share stories from their past and explain why their family heritage is an important part of their lives.

LeVar Burton

Award-winning actor, producer, and director, LeVar Burton will be the keynote speaker on Friday, February 10. Burton burst on to the acting stage with his role as Kunta Kinte in ABC’s 1977 award-winning television series Roots. He is also widely recognized as the host and executive producer of Reading Rainbow. Burton also appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generationas he took the role of Lieutenant Geordi La Forge.

Buddy Valastro

More commonly known as the Cake Boss from the hit TLC television show, Buddy Valastro will be the keynote speaker on Saturday, February 11. At RootsTech, Buddy will share why mixing eggs, sugar, and butter means a lot more than “making a cake.”

CeCe Moore

      I hope you can find a way over your brick wall. I have found Relativefinder helpful in linking me to the Mayflower. I knew of one direct lineage through William Brewster. In the app. RF I’ve seen closer direct lineage connections.

  1. Got the email about speaker talks being streamed on web, but could not locate where or how. Judging by the registration fee, the streamed talks probably required a payment, which I was not prepared for anyway.

  2. I have been working on my tree for several years and my G.G. grand pa disappeared. I have his dad and brothers and sisters . I live in SC but am from Kentucky. I even have where his wife re marred. Sorry, I cant afford to be there, hope you have a great time.

  3. According to the history of Seychelles, I am related to King Louis XV1 and Marie-Antoinette of France. I did my DNA with Ancestry.com and how can I transfer to Family search.com I did if before and I do not know if you got in on my family tree. I can not attend I live in Melbourne Australia.

  4. Hi I need advice.I did the DNA thru Ancestry. Last year …I am stuck on learning info on my great grand dad Alexander mc gowan born in about 1840 in York new York .he was married to Elizabeth miner born in Meriden new haven Connecticut in about 1853 ..I know about her parents ..but like I said my DNA said I was 93% great Britain 3% western Europe 3% Irish and 1% from the country with turkey in it …there are a lot of Ancestry trees with different names for Alexander mc gowan dad in it .I am going battie what road should I take …?

    It will help if all christen churches are Digitalized on film and not just the Protestant Churches.
    Some of the information out on the search not complete or incorrect.
    I would like to see the Bengal and Bombay Records on film. Thank you.

  6. Is there a way to watch Keynote Speakers other than Live? I can’t tune in at the times listed but would be interested in several presentations.
