After the consultant has determined who to reach out to, help him or her prepare the personalized family history experience.
- Consider inviting the new consultant to attend when you present your next personalized experience so they can observe.
- Pray to know how best to help the consultant.
- Provide advice and support as they reach out to the person they will help and assist them in the preparation of the lesson plan.
- Highlight the importance of prayerfully preparing and of creating discovery experiences that align with the patron’s goals.
- As you work with them, share your own experiences in following each of the four principles. This may take place over multiple sessions.
- Be selective on what to teach during each preparation session so as not to overwhelm them.
- Teach the tools and resources the consultant needs for that specific experience. Follow the Savior’s example of teaching line upon line.
- Attend as they deliver the experience to provide support if needed. Refrain from taking over. Allow the consultant to present the lesson plan. If there are specific items of concerns, or you need to provide feedback, do it after the session and in private.
