  • This Family History Center is sponsored by the LDS church. But membership in this church - or any church - is never a factor in being helped or being welcome.
  • AS OF JUNE 22, MASKS ARE OPTIONAL. We will supply a new mask free of charge, if you need one.

  • entrance is on the back side of the building. Door is marked - please ring bell for entrance.
  • Thursday night is "German Night". People can sometimes get help with German records, including German script. But please call before coming, to be certain our expert is on call.
  • We also have a patron who can help with Italian records, by appointment. Please call for information if you are interested.
  • A HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE ENTRANCE is in the front of the building. Please call us on your cell or smart phone, so we can come and open the door for you.
  • YOU CAN ALSO WORK ON YOUR PC IN BUILDING, OR EVEN IN THE PARKING LOT, IN YOUR CAR, THROUGH WIFI. If you'd like to explore this option, please call us for more details.

Open Hours: (FOR NOW, we are currently closing 1/2 hour early on every shift. To clean and disinfect surfaces, and follow our new COVID Protocols.)

  • Wednesday: 6:00pm -9:00pm
  • Thursday: 6:00pm-9:00pm
  • Saturday: 10:00am-2:00pm

CURRENT HOLIDAY CLOSINGS:

  • Closed all major holidays
  • Closed from Wednesday before Thanksgiving until the next Tuesday
  • Closed the last two weeks of December, until our first scheduled shift in the new year.

Other Closings:

  • Closed when Norwood school is closed; also we are sometimes closed due to inclement weather.

We occasionally close unexpectedly because of inclement weather or illness: Please call for information about unexpected alterations to our normal operation hours.


Calendar and Events[edit | edit source]

NEW NOTE: Our Portal access has re-opened after upgrades and revisions. One additional feature now is a historical Newspaper access.[edit | edit source]

Class schedule: a once a month ZOOM Beginner Genealogy Class will begin in August, 2021. This class will be held on the fourth Tuesday at every month, at the Pleasant Ridge Branch library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. This ten-month class will be taught by our director, Doris Ludwick, with the possibility of occasional guest speakers for different topics. The class will be a live audience class, as well as being a ZOOM class, and it will be archived. LIVE TIME: 7:00 to 7:45 PM, on the fourth Tuesdays of every month. With the exceptions of October and December.[edit | edit source]

Staff Training Meetings: Two Dinner Meetings are generally held every year: one in the Spring and one in late fall. These are attended by invitation only.[edit | edit source]


Center Resources: Reference books that hold collections of local church records, and collections of births and deaths and marriages, mostly in the Greater Cincinnati area.[edit | edit source]

Collections: Marjorie Dickory Collection; other smaller donated collections of books and documents; approximately 3000 indexed microfilms on various subjects. We also offer free access to 80% - 90% of the FamilySearch online archives. Many of these resources can only be accessed "under the umbrella" of our sponsor by coming to a Family History Center.[edit | edit source]

  • Extensive collection of Hamilton County, Ohio and German microfilms are on permanent loan. We also include a large number of other areas in our microfilm collection, although not as extensively, These include microfilms for Italy, Indiana and Kentucky, and the United Kingdom, among other locations.

Databases and Software[edit | edit source]

  • Family History Center Portal This Center also has access to the Family History Center Portal page, which gives our patrons free access, WHILE PRESENT IN THE CENTER, to several premium family history software and websites that generally charge for their services. While you are in the Center, you are considered to be "under the umbrella". And as such, you will be able to access our Portal research helps free of charge.

Hardware and Equipment[edit | edit source]

  • Six computers, five microfilm readers, four microfiche readers, one microfilm picture printer and scanner, two printers and copy machines.

Consultants with advanced and practical knowledge, who offer their services free of charge.

Italian records consultant by appointment only.

German-speaking document-translator can be available ON CALL most Thursday nights - please call to confirm.
