"This gazetteer has been compiled to assist those who are conducting genealogical and family history research in LDS ward records. In the early years of Western settlement the names of many communities changed. An early pioneer may have referred to his home in a letter or journal by a name which is now long forgotten. This gazetteer's intention is to identify the name of the LDS Church unit where that ancestor's membership records might be found" - Introd.
