FAMILY HISTORY LIBRARY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, is expanding its hours. Beginning Monday, June 6, our library hours will be as follows: Monday, Friday, and Saturday 9:00 a.m.6:00 p.m.; and TuesdayThursday 9:00 a.m.8:00 p.m. Further information will be updated on the FamilySearch newsroom.

Equipment Reservations

Save yourself the wait and reserve the equipment you need prior to coming to the Library. Online reservations are available one day in advance. Walk in use is available any day on a first come first served basis for time periods that are not reserved but may be more limited in duration if other people are waiting.

To use your time effectively, we recommend reviewing the features and how to use the equipment ahead of time. Call us if you have questions at (714) 997-7710.




Epson Scan Station 1
Scan stacks of photos, fragile or mounted photos, documents, color slide or film negatives with FF680W High-speed Photo and V600 Flatbed scanners



Epson Scan Station 2
Scan stacks of photos, fragile or mounted photos, documents, color slide or film negatives with FF640 High-speed Photo and V500 Flatbed scanners




SlideSnap 35mm Slide Scanning
The Slidesnap scanner is being upgraded and is temporarily unavailable. The Slidesnap slide scanner will scan all slides in a standard 2×2″ mount that can be loaded for projection in a Kodak carousel slide projector. Quality is roughly 3800 DPI/PPI.

Check with Staff for instructions on use.


VHS to Digital Video Station 1
This workstation supports VHS video tape to digital video conversion in MP4 format. Each hour of video takes one hour for conversion



VHS to Digital Video Station 2 with ScanPro 3000 Microfilm
This workstation supports either Microfilm/Microfiche viewing and digital capture using the Scanpro 3000 system or VHS video tape to digital video conversion in MP4 format. Each hour of video takes one hour for conversion



Wolverine 8mm/Super8 Film to Digital Conversion
Our Wolverine 8mm and Super 8 converts old film movie reels with frame-by-frame digitizing to a MPEG-4 Digital video at 720p. Note: it does not convert audio sound.



Kodak Scanza Film to Digital Conversion
Convert film-to-JPEG photo including color slides, color negatives and black and white negatives for a variety of films including 35mm, 126, 110, Super 8 and 8mm negatives.


No Reservation Necessary - First Come First Served
Book Scanning
Library Staff can scan books or sections of books, journals, or memory books using our special book scanning equipment. In some cases, "Copyright Laws" may limit what or how much can be scanned.
Patrons can use our color copy machine for smaller jobs, or for journals in a loose leaf binder that can be removed and fed though the copy machine, single or double sided.

Bring Your Books to be scanned - No Reservation Required
Classroom with Large Wall Computer
Our classroom can seat up to 36 people for genealogy-related group meetings, classes and presentations. It has a 64" large screen wall computer that supports Zoom Meetings and other presentations. Connecting via USB thumb drive or by a personal computer to use as a large display monitor.

Reserve the classroom by calling and coordinating the intended use, any special support needs or requirements, expected number of people, date and time.
