We offer classes on a variety of family history topics. Below are class schedules with a list of classes and the dates and times they are being offered. Come into the library or participate from home via Zoom. All classes are free to the public.

Saturday June 4, 1:30pm- Immigrants-Why Did they Leave their Homeland? "Newspapers for Clues", Vera Broyles (Click for Details and Zoom link)
Vera Broyles will share her strategies for delving into various websites, links, and databases. She will talk about how to find the filmed and scanned databases of newspapers, libraries, and archives.Did your Ancestor leave the farm, village, County, Country, family etc? Was it…. ???? Politics? Religious? Military? Taxes? Work / Income? Health? Where did they leave from? To where? and Why? Many of your answers just might be in Black & White!!!!
About the Speaker:
Fifty years ago, Vera began asking questions of her family members about her ancestry. For the past 26 years, she has been actively assisting others to find their ancestors. Vera was a staff member at the Oakland Family History Center, she has also served at the Sacramento Family History Center and the Orange Family History CenterThis class is sponsored by the local Czech and Slovak Area Genealogy Club

Thursday June 9, 1pm- Beginning Indexing- Janis Chandler (Click for details and Zoom link)
Indexing is the awesome service provided by volunteers that allows all of us to search for our records on-line. Come learn how you can help with this effort using as little as 5-10 minutes of your spare time.

Friday June 24, 1pm Gedcom Files and Syncing, Extracting your tree from FamilySearch to upload to other sites - Brent Meredith (Click for Details and Zoom link)
Do you have data in FamilySearch you verified and want control of so that you have a record to go back to if someone else changes it in Family Search?
Do you have DNA and want to load a tree from FamilySearch into Ancestry or another DNA website without typing it in all over?
This class will teach about ways to sync and extract you tree from FamilySearch and generate a Gedcom file to upload your tree to other genealogy sites such as Ancestry, My Heritage and many more.
