Williamson County, Illinois is named for Williamson County, Tennessee because of the many settlers who originated from that area.

1839--Williamson County was created 28 February 1839 from Franklin County.

Description

The county was named for Williamson County, Tennessee. The county seat is Marion and the county was organized on February 28, 1839. [2]The County is located in the North Central area of the state.[3]
