Chapelry History

WARDLEWORTH St James, [or sometimes known as Hundersfield] a township with a chapelry, in the parish and union of Rochdale, hundred of Salford, S. division of Lancashire. This township is in the division of Hundersfield, of which it forms the south-western extremity; and is partly in the borough of Rochdale, including the north-eastern part of the town. Foxholes, is in the township as well. The church is modern and cruciform, and has a tower and spire. There are two dissenting chapels here.[1]
