Finding Good Internet Sites about the War of 1812

  1. Check the Internet for good War of 1812 sites. Do a Google search for each state with War of 1812 for:
    adjutant general, check the web site archive.org
    historical society
    state library
    genealogical society
    bicentennial committee
    For example: Delaware war of 1812 
  2. Add any of the sites that have name databases, lists of good links, or other things useful for genealogists.
  3. Put the name of the author first, then the name of the site.
  4. Put a link on the name of the site or a particular part of the site.
  5. Add a brief explanation about the site, i.e. why a genealogist would want to go there.

I suggest we add a  comment  below "Additional State Records" on US Military Records - War of 1812 webpage... something like:

States not in existance (created?) as of June, 1812, but which have war related records (i.e. pension and land) that were created after the war.

Connecticut

  • Johnston, Henry P., Ed.  The Connecticut Adjutant General's Report (Hartford: Adjutant General,1889) includes the Record of Connecticut Men who served in the regular Armyand in the Militiain the War of 1812].  Name, rank, date of muster, regiment or organization, and remarks are given for officers and enlisted men in the regular Army.
