  1. Open the NARA Cross-Reference to FHL Film table.
  2. Locate the NARA Series number in Column 1 of the table, e.g., T623 for the 1900 Census.
  3. Copy the corresponding film number from Column 3 of the table, e.g., 1240017.
  4. Search the Family History Library Catalog by typing (or pasting) the number from Column 3 into the Film Number Search box and clicking [Search].
  5. Click to select the name of the film, and select [View Film Notes] to see the content of each film.
  6. If you know the NARA film number, use your browser's search feature (often [Ctrl-F]) to find that number in the text of the Film Notes.  Every film listed in the series will have a description of the content of the film, ending with the NARA film number, e.g., Alabama: Geneva and Greene Counties [NARA T623 roll 17].
