Cemetery records frequently give the age or date of birth of the person. The spouse and children who died young are frequently buried nearby. Symbols, such as for religion, military service, or fraternal organization, are clues to other records about the person.

Types of cemetery records include tombstone inscriptions, sextons (caretakers) records, and interment (burial) records. For more information, see Utah Cemeteries.
