Tegernsee
Tegernsee is a beautiful town on the shore of Tegernsee lake in southern Bavaria. It is in the Miesbach district, at an elevation of 747 m (2,451 ft) above sea level. There are a few other towns around this lake. They run into each other and so when looking for information on an ancestor from Tegernsee it is a good idea to check them also.(Rottach-Egern and Bad Wiesee and Gmund am Tegernsee.)

The area is predominately Catholic with a few parrishes and many cemeteries. However a majority of the records are found at the Catholic Archives in Munich.

Civil Registration

There is a civil record house in Tegernsee right on the main street that goes through town. They are very helpful if you happen to visit when the registrar is in and available to assist you.
