Many commonly asked questions, such as indexing crossed out information, have already been answered - Click the Basic Indexing Instructions link on the Project Links page to read them.
Answers posted on the updates page are official answers from support. We appreciate your questions and want to make sure any responses given on these pages are not from another source. Someone else may give a correct answer but there is no way of knowing that unless the answer comes through the proper channels. Because of the review process, answers may take a few days but they can always be counted on to be from an official source.
Concerning Project Updates: ("Dates - (New 8/26) - Year -If there is only a two digit number on the document and you can reasonably determine the actual year, add the first two digits. If you cannot reasonably determine the actual year, enter what is on the record.") For Naturalization Year, if there is no date of birth listed what else might reasonably help to determine the 4 digit year? I'm stumped. Every single arbitrated image including 2 digit dates such as 2/2/22 and indexed as 22, are returned corrected to 1922 when the date range of the project would also include naturalizations performed in 1822. Since there are quite a few images with this variation, it might be helpful to show an example in the powerpoint in Additional Helps if it can't be added to Project Instructions.
