I was on my second page of this project before I realised that Mary Jones in the first line (she's usally bold) is not actually a real person: she's an example. I've decided not to index her so we don't end up with a hundred Mary Jones. If there's a real Mary Jones in there, her ancestor will be hard-pressed to find her.

The example entry is in the first line and reads as such:

Jones, W.P. (parent) Mary (child) 12 (age) f (gender) R.1 c 1

If you'll notice, she has no number in the column after the child's name. Instead, the entry below her will start at 1.

I've pointed this out to the higher-ups and hope it will be mentioned in the project-specific instructions, but for now, this will have to do to spread the word.

Happy indexing!
