The rural areas of Sweden were divided into judicial administrative areas called Domsagor that were made up of one or more härads or tingslags. In every Domsaga there was a district judge who also acted as chairman in the respective Domsaga or Domsagor that belong to the Häradsrätterna.
- Historically the Domsaga was an appellate court. It was a level above the tingslag or härad court.
