Quick History

Exploring settlers discovered sulphur in the Cove Creek area of Beaver, Millard and PIute Counties. This was mined in an open pit and used for gun powder, sugar refining and medicines. The town was established in 1870. The sulpher company built 25 to 30 homes for the miners, teamsters and their families. For a while in 1918, the town was also known as Morrissey. By 1971 all that remained of the city was a company watchman and his family. [1]
