County Information

Description

Sioux County located along the southern border of North Dakota. Its eastern border is the Missouri River. The county lies entirely within the Stan ding Rock Indian Reservation. The county was created by Governor Louis B. Hanna and named after the Native American Lakota. The county government was first organized on September 12, 1914. Fort Yates is the county seat.[2]
