County Courthouse

San Augustine County was established 18 years before the construction of the first courthouse. During those early years, the Mansion Hotel and the federal custom house each served the needs of the county. In 1854 the first courthouse was built in the public square. The next courthouse was built in 1890. It was torn down to make room for the current courthouse, built in 1927. Through a grant from the Texas Historical Commission, the 1927 courthouse was restored and rededicated in November 2010.
