Early History

The earliest parish records of St. Lucy, Barbados show a baptism of Francis White in October of 1744.

The first marriages in this parish seem to start much later in April of 1749 with surnames such as Cadogan, Cragg, English, Harris, Jones, Leach, Matthews, McCoye, Poyer, Sandiford, Yearwood. These were quickly followed by other well known names from that period with the likes of Agard, Alleyne, Archer, Armstrong, Babb, Ball, Bowen, Boyce, Campbell, Carter, Clarke, Cozier, Corbin, Daniel, Edwards, Forster, French, Gibbs, Gilkes, Gittens, Greaves, Greenidge, Griffith, Hinkson, Johnson, Jordan, Kellman, Leacock, Mallard, Marshall, McDonald, Potter, Seale, Smith, Springer, Walcott, Whitefoot, Whitehead, Williams and Yearwood.
