In 1873 Roy was  settled by LDS Pioneers and stayed a small community for many years. It had a street called “Cousin Street”  where until 1957 all of the residents on that road were cousins coming from the original settlers of the area. <ref> [http://www.onlineutah.com/royhistory.shtml Roy – Online Utah] n</ref> Central City, Sandridge, the Basin, and Lakeview were all names that Roy went by until being named after school a teacher’s son Roy C.
