FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a Family History Center, a branch facility of the Family History Library.

The Port Angeles Family History Center is located on the south side of the Port Angeles meetinghouse.  We serve the west end of Clallam County including the communities of Port Angeles, Sequim, Joyce, and Forks.  All interested in genealogy and family history are invited to come to the center for assistance, to research, or to attend classes.

  • Enter on the southwest side of building.  Use the sidewalk from the parking lot on the south side to the front of the building.  Enter the Family History Center from the first set of doors facing Monroe Road.  Please ring doorbell (on the wall to your right) for admission.

  • Wednesday: 10 am - 2 pm
  • Wednesday: 6 pm - 9 pm
  • Thursday: 10 am - 9 pm
  • Friday: 6 pm - 9 pm

  • Independence Day, Thursday July 4
  • Thanksgiving Holiday: Tuesday - Friday, November 26 - 29
  • October 18, closed for preparation for the Jamboree on October 19
  • Christmas Holiday: December 17 - January 1
  • Reopening January 2, 2014

Calendar and Events

Upcoming Events:

Friday night classes start at 7 pm with computer lab at 8 pm.  You may attend any class of your choosing or attend all the classes. Preregister (by e-mail  pafhcjamboree@gmail.com or phone 360-565-8322) to ensure handouts for all.  If you are preregistered you will receive a class reminder by e-mail.  These classes are  FREE.

February 8: Roots Magic 6  Beginning Class. If you have RootsMagic 5 come to the class to find out what is new or has been added.  If you have not used Roots Magic come to class to see if you want to try the free version at home. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles but it is a good way to test out the program to your hearts delight.

February 15: Roots Magic 6  Intermediate Class

February 22: Roots Magic 6 Advanced Class

March 1: Using DropBox to backup and share your important files.  What is DropBox? How will it work for genealogists and family history. 

March 8: FamilySearch Family Tree for Beginners.

March 15: FamilySearch Family Tree Intermediate class.

March 22: FamilySearch Family Tree Advanced class.

March 29: FamilySearch.org.  Learn what this Free website offers.

April 5: FamilySearch.org.  What's  new and the changes that are upcoming (including Family Tree)

  • Family History Library Catalog:  Any of the films and fiche available through the Family History Library Catalog may now be ordered through your home computer.
  • (List additional collections you have such as the types of books and microfilm you have on indefinite loan; though you will not want to list every single item you have. Just give visitors to this page a general idea of your resources.)

  • Canon 300 microfiche/microfilm digitizer.  You can use this to save images from films and fiche to a flash drive or a CD or print the images.
