History

Parent County

1817--Perry County was created 26 December 1817 from Washington, Fairfield, and Muskingum Counties. County seat: New Lexington [1]

The County was named for Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, hero of the War of 1812. Perry County is one of the 88 counties in Ohio.
