Coming Events

2012 Classes: By popular request, the California Genealogical Society and the Oakland Family History Center are once again combining forces to offer two new series of classes. The first is called BEST GENEALOGY WEBSITE SERIES. This 8 week series will highlight the tricks and tips for using one or two internet sites in each class. For the series schedule and registration link see our classes page. The second series is titled the ANCESTRAL HOMELAND SERIES and will feature a different Ancestral Homeland each month. Registration will be handled separately for each class. The January class and first in the series will be an Introduction to Swedish Research. Oakland California Family History Center

The Oakland (California) Regional Family History Center is one of the largest and most accessible centers for genealogical research in California, with over 9,000 volumes of books, periodicals, family histories, city and county histories, city directories, plus over 37,000 reels of microfilm and 9,000 microfiche containing millions of local vital records and historical census data from all over the world.
