FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a Family History Center, a branch facility of the Family History Library.

Menlo Park Family History Center is located in the small house just behind the LDS Church.   We have an exceptional collection of books, film and fiche focusing on British Isles, Germany and USA.  There are also records available for other parts of the world, and access to borrow films/fiche from the Family History Library in Salt Lake City.  We have 10 computers, 8 microfilm readers, and 1 machine that will copy film/fiche to print or digital format for saving.

Class Schedule

 Wednesday morning course: Your Genealogy Questions Answered
Share your findings and get answers to your current genealogy questions in a repeating 9-week course where participants will also generate the topics for brief lectures from guest consultants. It is expected that participants will come for all (or most) of the sessions to share ideas and expertise and learn from each other.

Each three-hour session will start with 90 minutes of roundtable discussion for reporting experiences, including "brick walls" standing or surmounted. The roundtable will be followed by 30 minutes of presentation on topics determined by the group members at the first meeting. The session will end with one hour of hands-on training using computers, reference shelves, and other MPFHC resources.

Sessions are scheduled at MPFHC on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00.  A one-time donation of $25 is requested to cover costs of handouts and other supplies. Instructors will be MPFHC staff members and lecturers with experience in the topics identified by the class participants. Inge Harding-Barlow is program facilitator.

Staff Training Meetings: 
2nd Wednesday of each month (except August and December), 7-8 pm in the Baptistry, across the parking lot from the Center.

  • Family History Library Catalog: This center has the ability to order any of the films and fiche available through the Family History Library Catalog.
  • Menlo Park FHC Catalog on-line:  The catalog is on-line with all Bay Area Family History Centers.  When searching, be sure to check the "Show Copies" button on each item found to see which local Centers have that item.
