Description

It was founded 1867. The County Seat is White Sulphur Springs. Meagher County was named for Thomas Francis Meagher, territorial governor of Montana.[2] Meagher County is located in the central area of the state.[3]

Before Montana was a state in 1889, the western portion of Montana was included in the 1860 Washington Territory and the eastern was in the unorganized parts of 1860 Nebraska Territory.
