Parish HistoryEdit

HARDRES, LOWER (St. Mary), a parish, in the union of Bridge, hundred of Bridge and Petham, lathe of St. Augustine, E. division of Kent, 3 miles (S.) from Canterbury.[1]

Lower Hardres is a village and civil parish in the City of Canterbury district of Kent, see Lower Hardres Wikipedia.

Lower Hardres (pronounced "hards") St Mary is an Ancient Parish in the Diocese of Canterbury, a map of the parish boundary is available at A church near you.

The Hardres family owned the two villages (nearby Upper Hardres, Kent ) from the 12th century.

The Church of St Mary, School Lane, Lower Hardres was built in 1831-1832 and has been designated as a grade II listed building and is replacement within the same churchyard for an earlier predecessor.

Kent County Council (KCC) has a certificate centre at the Mansion House in Tunbridge Wells which holds all the completed registers for Kent since 1 July 1837 and can supply a certified copy of any Kent birth, death or marriage entry from any register within its custody or a Kent civil partnership registration from the government online database.
