History[edit | edit source]

  • In the year 1826 the province of Santiago was created and together with it the department of La Victoria, with its capital of San Bernardo.
  • In the 1960s and 1970s, the southern zone of Santiago continued to expand with lots, "illegal takeovers" of land, marginal populations and camps, which invaded the peripheral agricultural area. During this period, the most important settlements were created, such as the towns of José María Caro, Santa Adriana, Clara Estrella, Lo Valledor, Villa Sur, Lo Sierra, Las Turbinas, and Villa Lo Espejo.
