LIVERPOOL (St Simon) was created a district church in 1846 from, and lying within the civil boundaries of Liverpool St Peter and St Nicholas. This church was later demolished in 1866 to be replaced by railway. St Simon's Parish church, Gloucester-street and Silver Street, consecrated 14 June 1872; following relocation by the London and North-western Railway Company. (Source F. Youngs, Local Administrative Units: Northern England (London: Royal Historical Society, 1991), p. 182).
Birth, marriages and deaths were kept by the government, from July 1837 to the present day. The civil registration article tells more about these records. There are several Internet sites with name lists or indexes. A popular site is FreeBMD.
