The Family History Library has not yet microfilmed the records of the parishes of Leipzig. To acquire records, it is necessary to write to the civil registration office in Leipzig. The following link will give you the Addresses of the civil Registration offices of Leipzig as well as many other localities.

This Leipzig Church and Civil Register has been created to help you determine the parish or civil registration jurisdiction that you ancestor would have belonged to. Each street in the city is listed and for each street or part of a street, the parish and civil registration district that had jurisdiction for that street, is listed. Although the jurisdictions given pertain specifically to the year 1936, it is likely that they would be applicable for the earlier years as well. In order to use this register you must know what street your ancestor lived on. You may know your ancestor's street address from old letters or similar material. You can also determine their street address from a city directory. City directories were generally published regularly, in some cases, yearly.

When you find the street name, look up the street in this register to determine which parish your ancestor attended and in what civil registration district they lived. If the street extended into more than one jurisdiction you will need to know the house number. In such cases the street name in the register is followed by house numbers
