Kinchafoonee County

Created 16 December 1853 from part of Stewart County. Kinchafoonee was the name of a local creek, and the original name of Webster County. Kinchafoonee caused laughter across the state until it was changed in 1856 to honor New Hampshire statesman Daniel Webster.[1]

For records, see Webster County.
