Description[edit | edit source]

Hyde County is located in the Eastern portion of North Carolina and was named for Edward Hyde to whom King Charles II granted tracts of land in the New World called "Carolina"[1].

1705--Hyde County was formed 3 December 1705 from Wickham Precinct of Bath County. Bath County was abolished in 1739.
