Parish History

Hawerby cum Beesby St Margaret is an Ancient Parish in Lincolnshire.

Thesmall Norman church is a redundant Anglican church in the grounds of Hawerby Hall. The 12th-13th century church has been designated as a grade II* listed building and was restored in 1846 and declared redundant in 1974; it was used as an art gallery but is now in disrepair. Parishioners transferred to Wold Newton, Lincolnshire parish within the Binbrook St Mary and St Gabriel, Lincolnshire united benifice.

HAWERBY (St. Margaret), a parish, in the union of Caistor, wapentake of Bradley-Haverstoe, parts of Lindsey, county of Lincoln, 9 miles (N. N. W.) from Louth; containing, with the merged parish of Beesby.[1]


Civil Registration

This parish was within the Great Grimsby sub-district of Caistor registration district until the 1890 re-organistion when it became part of the Grimsby sub-district of Grimsby registration district.
