The census was recorded in census registers, which include a title page summary and the enumeration pages with detailed information for each address taken. The text of the census is written in English.
The 1984 Ghana census was conducted with 140 local councils as administrative units. The enumeration registers have the imprinted year of 1982; however the census was conducted in March of 1984. The statistics for the census in 1984 recorded a population figure of 12.3 million inhabitants. The greatest concentration of population in 1984 was to the South of the Kwahu Plateau.

Searching the Images
To search the collection, select "Browse through images" on the initial collection page ⇒Select the “Region Name” ⇒Select the “District Name” ⇒Select the “Name of Town/Village” which will take you to the images.
Look at the images one by one comparing the information with what you already know about your ancestors to determine which one is your ancestor. You may need to compare the information about more than one person to make this determination.
