History

Parent County

1847--Fremont County was created 24 February 1847 from unorganized territory. It was attached to Appanoose County prior to organization 10 September 1849.  County seat:  Sidney [1]

Boundary Changes

Record Loss

1863 and 1888 -- Courthouse burned and many records were damaged.
