Joseph Taylor first settled the area in 1858. Ten years later the area was included in as part of [[Harrisville, Utah|Harrisville]].  On 30 November 1890 western Harrisville was organized into a separate LDS wards and given the name Farr West in honor of Lorin Farr, former president of the Weber LDS stake, and [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chauncey_W._West Chauncey W.
